DabeiTV sought a website redesign aimed at optimizing the user experience for a diverse audience, ranging from tech-savvy millennials to older generations. Informed by user research, the design objectives included crafting a user-friendly platform that empowers users to seamlessly explore the rich content on DabeiTV. The platform's primary goal was to inspire users to consider it their ultimate destination for culinary inspiration, such as recipes and more.
User research revealed that a significant portion of existing users primarily engaged with recipes on the platform. Consequently, the design strategy shifted towards prioritizing media-rich content. Through the creation of basic wireframes, the decision was made to highlight imagery and videography, promoting the ease of recipe selection, and thereby maintaining a high level of user-friendliness on the site.
Collaborating closely with the core management team and informed by initial user interviews, my approach was to update the current branding and style guidelines, aiming for a modern and refined aesthetic. My design direction emphasized vibrant colors that harmoniously coexist, ensuring visual harmony without overwhelming the site. The resultant style guide was developed primarily for the management team to facilitate consistent brand representation and maintain design coherence across the website.
High Fidelity Mock-Ups
The initial website exhibited a lackluster, outdated, and cumbersome user interface. My objective was to establish a versatile interface that catered to a broad spectrum of user demographics, spanning from digital nomads to individuals aged 60 and above. The interface needed to effectively convey information in a succinct and clear manner while embodying a contemporary, lively, and straightforward design ethos.
Dabei.TV demanded a rejuvenated design perspective, presenting a challenging endeavor due to the need for patient collaboration with the core management team. This project offered valuable insights as it entailed accommodating a multitude of ideas and articulating the tangible benefits of the UXUI process. Leveraging the initial research conducted by the Dabei.TV team, I meticulously analyzed the data to inform the design direction. Like many projects, it involved a continual cycle of iterations, with ongoing feedback and adjustments until consensus was reached and all stakeholders were satisfied with the final outcome.
